Why do you make such assumptions ?? Water is the most important substance a newly planted tree needs and in general all that is required.

I believe the "bags" are simply manual watering devices but I don't remember the brand names ect..

Is it 'Tree Gator'? I know i've seen them at the local garden center. Don't know if a box store would have them.

And yes, it's essentially a drip irrigation system. I've used milk jugs with pinholes in the bottom for a smaller plant.

They also have the pop-bottle attachments for much smaller plants as well. Kinda like an inverse pylon with pinholes to which a 2L pop-bottle can be attached which acts as the resevoir.

I would think that water would be the only thing in there.

Hi all & really appreciate the input from the three of you. Creatrix had what I think it is, the 'tree gator'. I just put that into Google & came up with a picture that looked just like the item I saw. Very intriguing info from the other two of you on the small bottle application for smaller plants. They all sound like winners. Thank you!! ;-)

Nutrient requirements are independent of planting time, if there is a deficiency growth will be inhibited whether the plant was installed 10 days ago or 10 years ago.

You can get the Tree Gators everywhere including H Cheapo. They are used for parking lot trees here during dry summers like this one.
