canning question?

Can a jar for canning for pickled peppers be reused? I am new at this and it seems crazy to throw away a perfectly good jar and lid. These are 1 piece Hermetic lids.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

You may want to ask this on the Harvest Forum. One piece lids are not usually used again.

Here's a recent Harvest Forum thread on reusing commercial jars. The answer is yes and no, depending on who you want to believe, and the brand of jar you're talking about...

After rereading your question... if you're talking about an official Ball/Mason/Kerr canning type jar, then yes, it's reusable many times over. But you'll have to buy two piece rings and lids for it. After that the rings can be reused, but the lids will always be a one shot deal.
