I tried something like that, had better luck with the old egg crate card board....roxanne

really anything that will hold soil will work. I prefer to start all my seedlings no matter what kind of seedlings in individual 4" pots. That way they can grow for a long time without the roots being disturbed.

I planted my seeds in little clear plastic throw away cups that you use to take your medicine or brush your teeth in the bathroom.

Use 3oz dixie cups in an enclosed container similar to your pics. Make sure to cut drainage holes in the cups.

Chuy415 - so far I have 4 germinated out of 19, possibly a few more. Seeds have been slow germinating for me this year. I have mine on a heat mat with 2 heat lamps on them as well. For me, I can't have my seeds covered because it makes them stay too damp in my environment which leads to rot. :/

Hi Chuy,

I think I may have used that exact same container for some plumeria seeds this summer. We got some food item in it from Costco or Fresh Market or somewhere, and I recycled it.

I did burn some holes in the bottom with a soldering iron. I left the top on, but loose, and put it in the shade. I transplanted out the ones that did the best into individual cups after a while.

It worked out pretty well. It guess you could argue that it is better to plant in individual cups to begin with, but that can be a lot of pots if you're not sure they'll all germinate, or if you are like me and only have intentions of keeping the very strongest.
