recently transplanted rootings.. should go into shade for a while.. until the roots start pumping water .. before they are put in full blazing sun ....

also .... how long do you let the WATER roots get ... shorter the better .. get them into the growing medium ASAP .... perhaps tenting them in a plastic bag ... in shade.. until they have sufficient roots to support the leaves ...

and.. the least amount of leaves.. the smallest bit of plant .. is easier to root.. rather than a big whompin piece.. that has too much leaf mass to be supported with young tiny roots ... make sense??

im kenny and i know the ipomoea family as the morning glories, and they are very easy to start from seed. I agree, don't let too many roots form in the water, as the roots in water are brittle and are formed to get water and nutrients from the water. roots in soil ned to be tougher because of the texture of the soil, tenting and prehaps misting is a good idea

Morning Glory is a hideous invasive in Oregon.
Hope your zone is VERY different. (Maybe be safe and try Clematis, Kiwi, or another vine?)

Hi my name is crystal. I have a question. Does anyone know how to start a root on a previous morning glory that is already growing. I guess what I'm asking can I cut a piece of the vine off and put it in water to grow a root. Maybe a stupid question but I have no idea.

I also want to cut some vine from the back fence and transplant to the front fence. Do I use a rooting powder once i cut the vine? Or perlite to re root? When is the best time of year to do this project? I love the flowers and the privacy of vine on the open wire fence.

honestly im going to give it a try for the first time but the way i am going to go at this project is i will cut and make clones . I have not tried it with this plant but with bougainvillea it was successful. What you do it get some type of dome , either a cloning station or just some tub wear . Cut a clone off the plant with a sanitary razor , make a final 90 degree cut , dip it in root booster and put it in a medium such as rotwool . ill put some links you can put this dome in shade or indoors under a cfl light . you dont vent the the dome untill theres roots and then you gradually day by day open the vents
