Another B-1 question

I'm using the B-1 on my transplanted and newly rooted plumies. Would it also be a good idea to add it to the water of the plants that are brought inside for the winter? Would it help lessen the shock of being moved?

A few drops of B-1 and superthrive are always fine until the plant drops all its leaves, then stop watering.

Thanks Bill. I use the ST when I fertilize and more often on newly rooted plants and seedlings. I'll start adding the B-1 and ST more often until they go dormant. I recently stopped fertilizing everything and will have to take all the plants in within the next few weeks. I hate this time of year here. Just when all my tropical and sub-tropical plants are at their peak it gets cold : (

    Hi Karyn,
I agree with your comment, finally NOw..my plants that have been growing all summer, are getting dark green thick leaves, leaves are getting wider and lush..darn will eventually lose those, thats what I will hate to see happen. That is new for me my first year growing them, am enjoying them so..have my morning coffee and evening coffee with them, on my patio enjoying my plumies, guess my gardenia will go dormant too, think.

Karen my jasmines and gardenias don't lose their leaves, at least not many, but they do stop blooming. I'll be taking them in soon too. I'm growing a Sambac jasmine for the first time this year and hope that it requires the same care as my others. I don't remember offhand the specific variety but it smells 100x better than my regular jasmines and they smell wonderful. The blooms are also much prettier. They look like little white cabbage roses.

    Hi Karyn,
so sorry you are going dormant, how heart breaking. I am new at gardenia growing and jasmine. I have been feeding all every two weeks, same dosage and food as the plumies. Do I keep feeding them this fall, we do stay warm. So apparently they don't lose their leaves or go dormant?

I continue giving my gardenia and jasmines fertilizer throughout the year, about 1x/mo. I'll add a bloom booster in the spring. One of my older jasmine trees will bloom almost year round.

In the winter, I give a small amount of Osmocote to my plumeria, bananas and other tropicals that donÂt have a required dormancy period. This ensures a trickle of nutrients that the plants can utilize for growth during our winter warm spells. Take this suggestion with a grain of salt; it may be a bad idea in other areas.

    Hi Karyn,
ok...on the gardenia and jasmine, stop bloom food..what is 1X?
thanks..will check out the other jasmine with the cabbage roses in spring...I find jasmine grows, gardenia too then buds or blooms..have buds now, then blooms, then grows buds..etc. both are in pots on my patio..such nice smells.
    thanks,

Karen B 1x/mo = 1 time a month feeding. The gardenias get an acid fertilizer. I give the jasmine an all purpose one and I start with a bloom booster for both in the spring. Look for a jasmine sambac called "Grand Duke", it's beautiful and has the most wonderful scent. Here's a pic of a sambac GD bud that's close to opening. It's on new growth, the foliage turns a dark gloosy green as it matures.

    Hi Karyn,
ok.. once a month feeding. I have never given it a acid feeding, just the hawaiian mix for the plumies. Really doing well on it. Is there a acid food for them like for azalia?

Grand duke, will look for that, love the jasmine, I have star jasmine, just vining all over the plant stand.. smells so heavenly. Waiting now for new bloom, grows and blooms. I need to put it in a larger pot, got to think that one out, cause is curled around a large stand. Trying to find night blooming one, want that fragrance.
    thanks,
    Karen B.
