Can you post closer pictures of the leaves so we can id it for certain first?

Here's a pic I took this morning on the way out. Focus is poor but I think it'll do.

On further inspection of the ground beneath I'm not sure if the sprouts are actually weeds. Maybe someone can tell me if this bush/tree would naturally propagate this way.

There's a lot growing at my place and yes,little plants do start popping up nearby. Brady

OK, it does look like Prunus caroliniana, Carolina Cherry Laurel. I just wondered because Cherry Laurel is also used for Prunus laurocerasus and your shrub didn't look like that.

I thought it might be Prunus laurocerasus, but sounds like it isn't.

Prunus lauroserasus produces berries which are almost black in colour, and grow easily from seed. Maybe this one of yours would too.

Hmmm, it does have dark berries. So, I guess that makes it Prunus lauroserasus and thereby can be grown from the berries?

It isn't Prunus laurocerasus. The leaves are far too small and the wrong shape. And that P laurocerasus doesn't have red stems.

Looks like Prunus lusitanica / Portugese laurel to me.

It looks startingly similar to the photo in Wikipedia.

If it is Prunus lusitanica, then like P. laurocerasus it has very dark purple/almost black berries and is easily propagated from seed.
