Hello all!

I recently found a huge pile of pruned s. apiana. This made me sad, as the plant was being wasted in a trash heap. So, I pulled out a couple large, healthy branches, each with many stems, and I am wondering how to propagate it? Is it possible to propagate in water? What soil and temperature works best? Can the hardwood sections be buried and grow from there? I would very much like to save this plant, and I plant on making smudge sticks with some of the extra. I welcome any and all advice.

Oh, I also plan to make a potent rooting hormone from willow stem tea, and will mix the tea in with the water to attempt water-rooting.
