Hey Tax, I would recommend searching the Banana Forum, linked below. There are a number of threads about that topic there. Also, you might take a look at the bananas.org site. They also have many many related threads, as well as a lot of interesting banana information.

If yours are Musa basjoo and well established, there's probably no real need to do anything. My basjoos don't get any babying whatsoever. If they are another species, they may need to be dug up and held in a protected area. I won't go into a lot more info about that here, because we don't yet know exactly what they are, and, it's probably not of interest to most in this forum.

Thank You Brandon for your usual excellent advice. I have no idea even to what genus these plants have been assigned. Banana taxonomy is a nightmare and references or keys to genera are almost non-existant. I will certainly take a look at both the Banana forum as well as Banana.org site.

Yeah, unfortunately I have no idea how to tell if they are basjoo or not except to look at the tag, if there is one. (-;

My dad had banana plants that he got in FL; since he lived up in North GA he would dig a trench in the back yard and lay them in it, cover them up until spring. Hope that helps.
