Hello, dropping in from my usual spot in the trees forum.

This fall I planted some Lantana and absolutely loved them. Being used to the trees I couldn't stand the thought of the fellas dying so I took a couple cuttings in September, stuck two in damp soil and one in a soda bottle in the kitchen on the window ledge and filled it with water. "Poof" a few weeks later the one in the soda bottle has rooted.

It is about 6 inch long, has a few leaves at the top with new ones growing and a branched root system. About 3 inches (7.5cm) of the cutting is in the 20 oz bottle and the roots come out of the bottom of it.

If the roots are reaching the bottom and curling around is it time I plant it?

How deep do I plant it when I do? Is the water line more or less its new "root collar"?

These plants seem to respond well to drier soils. Am I assuming right I need to keep the pot fairly moist for a month or two?
