Plumbago cuttings

I know this question is full of what if's and variables but just trying to get an idea so generalities welcome.

I took 216 cuttings from Plumbago auriculata. The cuttings were 4-6 inches long of semi ripe wood and the plants the cuttings came from is rapidly growing and healthy. I left none to 3 leaves at the top of each cutting. The cuttings were dipped in rooting powder and the plants are inside in a 75 degree room and kept moist.

Any guesses as to how many rooted plants I can expect from 216 cuttings? Anyone know the general success rate for this plant?

can i ask why 216 ...

instead of.. 214.. or 218 .. lol ...

are you in the profession .. or did you just get a bit carried away ????

the plants are inside what.. and will they get enough light????

did the rooting powder have a fungicide???

will take 25-60 days to root so be sure to mist....
no I do not keep tabs on rooting % SO let us know your rate

Of course you can ask but the answer is rather boring lol...The propagation trays are 72 cells each 72 X 3 (trays) =216.

I recently put a fence around our 3 acres here in Florida due to deer problems. The plumbago are going to go in front of and behind the fence at the front to soften it a bit. So I figure I will need 75 +- and trying to figure out if I have done enough.

They are inside the house, in one of our spare bedrooms. I can put them under my seed starting lights which is 6 4 foot tubes if need be, but in a couple weeks I will have to move them so I can start my tomatoes and peppers. Spring comes early here in Florida.

I'm not sure if the rooting hormone had fungicide. Is the light crucial for rooting?

They are in front of a window not in a dark room but the window faces north. I can put them outside in a bright place but the temperature will be quite variable between 80 some days and 30 others with an average of maybe 70 for a high and 40 for a low. Just not sure if heat or light is more important......

well MI is sure not FL ... lol ...

and i have no experience with such ... but with no roots.. leaves continue to need light.. to photosynthesize ...

second link at the link below .. seems to indicate bright light is needed ... as well as humidity control ...

if it works.. please post us a pic of the entire yard surrounded in blue.. should be awesome.. probably the perennial forum ...

Keep plumbago cuttings out of direct sunlight but in a bright place until they've rooted. Keep the soil evenly moist. Covering the cuttings with a clear plastic covering helps conserve moisture and prevents wind damage.

I root a couple hundred of these every year for our Gift Shop - only thing I would suggest other than what you're doing is keep them out of direct sunlight and get the flats under a humidity dome and spray the leaves once a day until rooted. Outside would be OK in a bright shady place but I'd bring them in at night if the temps are predicted to go below 45F.
