Boy, in looking at the preview I see I reeeeally need to start spraying my roses!! I get a lot of BS in the early spring and it goes away once it quits raining and the temps are warmer, but the dang thrips are all year long!!! I'm just going to HAVE to make time to spray....

Beth, how do you keep doing it they are all just Beautiful. I really like GALLIVARDA & GEMMA. I know what you mean about BS it never lets up in my area, I have to spray all year long if I want to keep healthy foliage and with out that you don't have those beautiful blooms we all like. Even on the roses that say they are desease proof they get BS if I don't spray. And I'm not even going to go into thrips. Again Thanks for posting.

I love all 4 of your "gingers" - especially Ginger Rogers and Gingersnap!!! MMMMMmmmmmm.

Gemma has to be my fav though. Lovely!!

Golden Jubilee has lovely color!! Is it related to Gold Medal - it seems to have the tan edgings like GM.

Do any of the ones I chose have fragrance?

    Love em!!

Thanks for posting. Of these, the only ones I have are the Gebruder Grimm and Grafin Sonia. The Gebruder Grimm sure has a bright color when it first opens, but it fades badly. The Grafin Sonia does not impress me much at this point. The one in this set I really like is the Golden Jubilee. That one looks pretty nice.

Thanks for another great post, Beth! It is especially nice during our current cold spell.

GINGER HILL is one of the HT's that has a permanent place in my garden, which is saying something because I have a tendency to be impatient with some HT's. I almost never shovel prune a floribunda or shrub, but some HT's don't produce well enough to justify the effort to keep them healthy! Even though GINGER HILL is very attractive to thrips and has to be sprayed, it makes up for it with it's lovely scent, frequent blooming, and pretty color. It is right by my driveway gate and is the first scent wafting by when going into the garden.

It took awhile, but I finally got GARDENS OF THE WORLD on fortuniana last summer. It is not in my best bed and is still getting going, but I have great hopes for it.

Have you had any trouble with the Freelander roses? I hear they can be difficult, although I only tried one, MAGMA, and it died.

Anyway, thanks again for a beautiful display from your great collection!

I loved all your Gingers too. When you do your ABC's we see so many unusual blooms.

Harold, when we lived in the mobile home park (over 10yrs ago) and all my roses were in pots, I used to spray all the time. I never had the thrips problem and only occasional BS. Now I have waaay more roses, and so little time, I just haven't taken the time in yrs. But I'm really going to try to be serious about spraying this yr. I can't stand the brown edges I see on most of my roses from the thrips. Drives me crazy!! Hopefully that will be the one New Yr's resolution that I do stick to!! Now if the weather would just cooperate so I can go finish the pruning!!

Carol, to be honest, I can't remember if any of those have any scent or not. Altho, I kinda seem to remember GEMMA maybe had a nice scent. Every yr I keep saying I'm going to log in my files what scent or lack there is on all the roses, so I can actually answer that question!! I guess that'll be my second New Yr's resolution to try and accomplish!

Bustopher, I'm not all that enamored with GRAFIN SONJA myself. I always saw such beautiful pictures of her for yrs, and wanted her sooo badly. I was thrilled when Palatine got her in. But she's another major thrip magnet. We'll see if I can keep up with the spraying if she improves this yr. I sure hope so! And you're so right about GG. I hate how quickly it fades.

Hey Vicki, that GINGER HILL is a beauty isn't she? But you are sooo right about the thrips. I don't very often get good pics of her because of them. If I remember right, I think she gets a lot of powdery mildew too. I'm glad you were able to get GotW. I loved mine when it was in a pot. But a couple yrs ago, I planted it in the ground and it hasn't done very much. I think it went into shock after being in that pot for over 10yrs! And I haven't had much problem with the Freelander roses. Mostly GRAFIN SONJA with the thrips and FANTASIA (MONDIALE) hasn't had great rebloom. But MAGMA and the rest are pretty much gangbusters for me.

Thanks Masha. That was the only pic I got of GALLIVARDA last yr, for some resaon. Must not've been a good yr for it. It usually has much more intense color too.

Thanks Inga! There is something about the "Gingers" isn't there? I'm hoping GINGER will bloom a bit more this yr now that she's in the ground. She's a very pretty rose. That pic really doesn't do her justice!

I love the soft, subtle blended colors of Gwen Mayor. Reminds me a bit of Peace HT. Is it similar? Peace is my absolute favorite HT, but I can't grow it -- I won't put up with a rose that blackspots that badly! How is Gwen on that score? It would be nice if I could find a soft blend like that to substitute for Peace.

Between you and Celeste HMF is getting a workout.

Gemma is stunning. I'm getting fonder of some of the petal packed non Austin roses.

Beth, what a pleasant surprise to see that you have been able to load up the "G"-roses. You really get us through the winter, don't you :-)!

Your roses are all gorgeous as always, although for me Geraldine Ferraro, Ginger Hill, Golden Freelander, and Good News made it to stand out from this already very elaborate crowd!

I am looking forward to the "H"-roses!

    Christina
