What I would do is purchase a heating pad for plants.YOU can get them most anywhere. Put that plant right back in a FULL sun window, and place the potted root cutiing on top keeping the roots very warm continually, night and day...It will root...

Just look closely at the nub where the roots should be, and make sure it hasn't rotted before you begin..

I alot of mine 2 years ago in the dead of winter up here in New England...

May I suggest you use a plastic see-through water bottle when you repot this cutting, as small as a 20oz one. Do not cut holes in the bottom until you get roots. The condensation from the sun hitting it will be enough to keep the soil just barely moist. Also you will get to see the roots develope for sure..;-)

Makaha Sunn a hard one to root, I lost one last year. This year second one with warm 5 months no roots, sent it off to be grafted last month and came back with nice looking v-cut grafts that are growing. Dave

I think with Makaha Sunn, lots of heat and patience are needed. I had 2 cuttings early in the season, one with an inflo (which I did NOT cut off and let it bloom). They are both now finally rooted (took almost all season) and have become beautiful plants. As a matter of fact, the one that bloomed has another inflo ready to pop any day. BTW, the one with the inflo rooted about the same time as the one without the inflo. This is why I never remove inflos :)

Thanks to you all for the info. Even though I haven't seen any nubs, I will put it back on a heating mat and under the gro light when the days cool. Right now I have it sitting in the sun where it has been for the summer. If I decide to have it grafted, how and where would I send it? Thanks! : )
