My Guillot's Sunset grows like crazy ... I've seen branches grow almost 18" in a season. Right now it has several giant inflos that opened mid-summer, and the new split branches are already 8" long. It's a relatively big tree, planted in the ground for 3 years.

Good going! When I used 3x strength SNG 2x+ a week I would get 3ft of growth, but it was really soft and would droop.
I think a ft + a season is a good amount and assures stable wood.

Yeah, I think we have to take the whole "compact" with a grain of salt sometimes, LOL. Even the compact ones seem to grow like weeds in those first few years.

Imagine how much it could have grown if you'd had it in the ground, Rox.

My Aussie Confetti--reputed to be a slower grower than the similar-looking Cooktown Sunset--has grown from a 3' tall single tip this spring into a 5-1/2' double tip now. Yikes! That's over 2' of soft green growth in about four months.

Makes me wonder how much Cooktown would grow in the ground here.
