Hi Tim, You need to cut the tip off and make sure that you cut down until the rest is white. All dark parts gone. If this is a cutting you should only water it once when you plant it and then don't again until you start to see regular size leaves. I find that it will take between 3 to 8 months or more. You could mist it once in a while but you should not need to do it much if it is indoors. The winter is really not the best time and just make sure that it has heat from the bottom. I hope that this will help. I lost the first 5 or 6 cuttings in the beginning so don't give up.
