Now would be the best time. I grow all my minis in pots (in Tampa) in 7 gallon pots. I've also moved in ground roses to pots. I'm going to assume that you didn't prune them this year and there isn't a lot of new growth sprouting out all over the place. I'd trim them back a little bit so they will be easier to handle and it wouldn't hurt to root prune them before hand. (root prune: about 2 weeks before you move them use a shovel and go around the dripline to cut the roots) You can use smaller pots but be aware that the smaller the pot is the more you'll be watering. After transplanting them into the pots put the pots in a shaded area until you see that they are getting established. I'd suggest using a soilless potting mix in the pots too.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't read it until after I moved them but they are doing fine so far. We had a cold snap right before I moved them, most of the plants had stopped blooming and started to lose leaves for the first time. They all have new leaves and most had new growth in 2 weeks. I wish I had known about root pruning but now I know for next time. I did use some smaller pots and they are really drinking water. Thanks for all your help. If we get orders to Virginia then my house warming gift to myself will be a big order of mini's...I'm hooked. I hope they are as easy to take care of in Virginia.

There is a slight chance we may go oversea's so that would mean I couldn't take plants so if your still living in Tampa then I would love to give my mini's to someone that would enjoy them as much as I have. They were a mothers day gift from my mother.

I'm just getting started with Mini's and all mine are potted as I live in an apartment. If you need someone to adopt yours, I'm willing. Hopefully you'll get to take them with. Or maybe if you do go overseas, could your mother foster them for you?

Hi Val,
I will be sure to keep you in mind. My mom lives in Tennessee so I doubt I would be able to get all 12 to her. There is a slight chance I won't get to take them all even if we stay in the states, my roses aren't high on my husband's list of things that can't be left behind. I hope we have lots of family drive down this summer so I can get a rose or 2 to my mom.

My fingers are crossed for you. I actually just picked up a Cinderella Kordana at Sweetbay the other night and once I got it home, discovered there are what appears to be 7, yes 7!!! plants in one 6 inch pot. Needless to say, I know a few people getting those as well.
