I'll give you an example from my garden: I have an east-facing raised bed, and last year planted three minis 2' apart at the very front of it to create a hedge. (The other sides of the bed are a concrete patio slab, a wall, and a hibiscus pruned into a border shrub.) The minis filled in the gaps quickly, adding year-round color and hiding the "knees" of the leggier HTs behind them very nicely. Pruning is a snap--no special rules to follow--just prune to shape.

In spring, this mini hedge doubles as a living support for the floppy freesia which pop up between them and the HTs. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Thanks, Greg. Great idea re the freesias. Mine either flop or I corral them unattractively with bamboo stakes and string. I'm waiting for the first blooms to see color, etc before transplanting my new minis to the ground.

The smaller ones look good in a rock garden and I've put a couple in pots around a mid garden, open air sitting area along with a micro miniature in a pot on the center table in that grouping.

I love Minis in tree(standard form). I have three in a raised bed that wraps around my patio area. The bushes are at eye level. Very easy to maintain. I love Sun Sprinkles, the yellow is vivid and form is beautiful.
