Veto, many green peppers transition through a "darkening" stage before they turn red.

Northeast, thank you for the quick reply.
Veto

Patience is a virtue in growing chiles.

Willard, thanks for the post. Jalapeno has only one colour (red), right?

Veto

I have just harvested 2 Jalapenos, They change from light green to darker green, to kind of purple/black (as seen in your picture) and finally the most beautiful red.

As I understand, there are several strains of Jalapeno that might be somewhat different.

One ripe color. Some varieties under go color changes as they are ripening. The Purple jalapeno for example becomes a deep purple just before it ripens to red. Many varieties exhibit this darkening to a lesser degree.

Thanks for the opinions.

This is my first time grow Jalapenos, so I was confused about this colour.
