I have had luck picking the peppers the same day I am shipping and sending them in a small flat rate box wrapped in bubble wrap. They should be just fine for a few days.

I do the same, and I try to pick pods that are not fully ripe so that they'll turn
color in transit. I don't know that it matters, but I do it anyway.
