it is always a good hobby. I spent 35 years as a professional doing it and just retired in '08. The industry changed so much with the onset of digital. I just wish more of the young people getting into it now days would try to understand the theory instead of just point and shoot. roxanne

Good luck with youngsters learning the theory behind anything that can be done with the touch of the button. Their rationalization? Why do I need to know that, my phone does it? Of course I am just generalizing. Not all kids are like that, but I don't know any... :)

I did a small amount of professional photography, but sold my Canon A-1 with all my nice lenses in '98 and went digital... Processing turn around time was gone, quality wasn't nearly as good, but monitors weren't HD either, so not many people complained.

I admire your shots Roxanne, always great depth of field and lighting is very nice. Thanks for sharing!

many mahalos Jeff....photography was a passion since I was 16 and it was very good to me. As they say, right place, right time.

I have counseled/helped young ones getting out of Brooks Institute (I was a grad in Jan. '75) and I notice that they want it all handed to them at once. I worked my way up from the bottom from a family with no $$$$$. My how things have changed. Yes, you are right, not all kids are like that but wow!
