spidermites, fungus gnats and aphids

I am gradually changing from a mini-rose murderer to a mini-rose friend. Last time I posted 2 summers ago, I killed 31 bands in a very short time. Now I am starting to see how much bugs were involved with that. I am pretty sure spidermites caused complete defoliation and none have survived that. Thi year I conquered the mites by washing the leaves every other watering, but the fungal gnat larvae have caused some to fail to thrive and die? I am still hoping some stems will come back. Aphids have never been much of a problem in my garden. I dont read much about gnats except they are annoying, but here they are much more damaging. My
roses will tell you it is not about over watering! If you have unexplained failure yo thrive it could be them!

Tips on stropping them would be greatly appreciated. Also getting defoliated mini's to come back! Thanks to all you rose whisperers out there!!!
