That looks really nice and showy. Does it smell good at all? Where do you get this particular variety? How long do the flowers last? Do they hang on for a while, or do they just fly open and drop in a day or two?

the bustopher, she smells wonderful, and her flowers are very long lasting. I think I got her at a local nursery (Capitol) here in Sacramento about 3-4 years ago. Beth my plant was very un-noteworthy until this year when it took off. I did everything wrong at first, including planting her in a whole peat pot.

I'm so glad you all like Golden Z. I really appreciate all your comments. Phyl, I know the flowers on the bush are unusually long lasting. They've looked the same for weeks. In fact, they are acting a little like plastic flowers. But I haven't picked any for a bouquet yet so I don't know if they shatter. I'll cut one for you and let you know!

This rose came out about the same time as Julia Child. I got GZ instead because of the fuller flowers and old rose look. Every year except this I've regretted the choice. Now I'm happy :~))

I just remembered what I wanted to tell you now. When I first saw your photos of Golden Zest, they were so stunning, that I thought they were some of the ones J&P photoshopped! LOL :0) Phyl

OMG. Phyl, thank you! I'm sure J&P hires pro photographers. I open images using Photoshop - I use it to adjust contrast and sometimes crop areas. For the GZ pics, I think I corrected contrast using levels. Sometimes I'm tempted to make the sky bluer on pics but I refrain. :~)

BTW, Last night I cut a bud starting to unfurl for you. I was going to let you know the results after a while. As of today it is slowly opening. When it opens I'll let you know how long it stays before shattering. Marlene

Is there any seller of this rose in the US? I wonder why a rose this special never made a big hit or had staying power. Diane
