Yollies this rose may not be a miniature rose at all, but a Polyantha. This type of rose is related to the mini rose, just not considered a true mini rose. If I'm correct they are a very resilient rose. You might want to post the photo on the Old Garden Rose Forum and see what they say.

Morning sun is the best as long as it gets atleast 6 hours so I would leave it for now get it good and strong before you think about moving it. Personally I would wait for spring and just give it regular watering and if the weather in your area doesn't get cold too early a light dose of fertilizer would be ok.

Thank you. I reposted on the antique rose forum. I think you might be right about it being a Polyantha. It seems to fit the description of Polyantha roses. We'll see what the people on the old rose side have to say.

Judging from the size of the main canes I'd say that rose is fairly old. As you can see it's survived very well with little care and in a less than ideal location so I wouldn't worry too much about moving it. Just cut the top back some what and dig as big a root ball as you can. Always prepare the new spot first. Then get a tarp or wheel barrow so you can put the root ball in that to move it without breaking it up. The less you disturb the root ball the better the plant will do when moved.

Thank you all. I moved the rose carefully to a sunny less crowded spot. It was hard work digging it out. Hoping the new placement is successful!
