Caribbean Red

My CR's didn't do as well this year as in past seasons. One plant was over-wintered and the other 4 were grown from seed. All are in pots.

I set them out on April 1. We did have an unusually cool spring and before you knew it, it was real hot. Towards the end of July, I noticed that the plants were losing leaves and so I moved them to partial shade areas. This seem to help and I'm now harvesting some pods but nothing like past seasons.

I'm wondering how well they actually over-winter. I know some over-winter better than others. I'm also thinking that perhaps the seed stock wasn't the best. Perhaps I had some cross-pollination going on and these seeds are simply not up to par.

I'm also wondering if cooler weather stunts growth permanently and the plant really never recovers even when it gets warmer.

Anyway, these are my favorites and I need to understand what may have happened so I don't have repeat occurrences.

Thanks,

Bob
