mushrooms

One of the beds I have prepared for flowers seems to be teaming with mushrooms. This is a small circular bed that surrounds 3 aspen trees. I removed the grass that was there and put down some "clay buster" compost. I probably did this about 4 weeks ago when we got one of our first bursts of warm weather. While waiting for Mother's day to plant the bed I keep seeing these clusters of tan-ish yellow mushrooms. Seems like 30 Â 50 come at a time. Despite my knocking them out with my pitching wedge they keep coming back with avengeances. Any guesses as to the cause? Is it the soil I added?

Any ideas on how to get rid of them? It's not that I really mind. It's kind of fun to blast them all over the street while practicing my golf swing but my girlfriend is totally weirded out by them. I don't get it but the sight of them gives her the heebie-jeebies...so they must go.
