That last site is good, there also was a really good one at the ARS site, but I can't get at it either, I can find some of the pictures on google, but not the actual ARS page.

I almost tried it last fall, but just never got to it, I do that alot. NO procrastinating this year.

Maureen, I hope you find the site you had, this way we have more information, but I think it will be about the same as keinefurcht posted. We will all have to do it and compare results.

I'm new to the forums, but hope this will help. The link below is to an ARS article. I did air-layering of camellias and azaleas years ago, as a teenager (I won't say how many decades that was :-))

I've done it. The hard part here in a dry climate is keeping the soil around the wound moist. It dries out really fast if the location is too sunny, and of course in Santa Ana wind conditions. I got the best results going very low on the plant, and on the shady side.

'Garden Party' roots itself quite easily if you bury the bud union. I got 3 or 4 separate plants of it that way.
