I had struggled with propagating roses from cuttings for awhile. I still have yet to propagate some of the albas, damasks, and gallicas from cuttings. But, I tried these in July last year which did not seem to be a good time for those classes. The first week of July was an excellent time to start many of the other roses: Teas, chinas, ramblers, etc.

This year I'll take cuttings the first week of June as well.

I am trying to root the albas, gallicas, damasks, etc. as dormant fall cuttings. They are still holding on outside in their little pots in the rubbermaid container. I have faith!

Connie (hartwood roses) has developed a nearly foolproof method to propagate roses. She has it outlined with many photos on her web site.
