I have a bunch of them. Persian Yellow is similar and is found at old houses a lot. Also rosa foetida and its sport, Austrian Copper.
I also grow rosa xanthina, which is pale yellow, with ferny leaves and red canes. It is the earliest to bloom.

Buck roses are cold hardy, as are rugosas. Both survive well here in zone 4 and I've heard they do well in zone 3. Bucks do not even need winter mulch cover here and they do fine:
