Purple Variation--Too small for cutting?

I have a very nice purple sport on a rose in my front yard. I am new to cuttings/roses/sports etc. but I would like to know if I can save it. It seems too small to do a proper cutting.
Will it grow into a seperate branch with purple blooms or will it revert?
It is very vibrant and beautiful in my light and I would love any advice on how I can save the little guy.
