Nope, not if you are talking about the rose mosaic viruses. The only way to tell it to have the plants virus indexed, or to start with virus indexed plants. Rose mosaic can stay dormant for years, some plants never show the "typical" patterns on the leaves.

You did not give your temperature zone. In a hot climate you could have PNRSV virused roses without symptoms as the rose PNRSV virus immune system is efficient at high temperatures. If you live in a cool climate and have not seen any spring symptoms in five years, you probably are clean of the PNRSV virus but of course you still could have one or more of the others.
