I've got some hen & chicks outside in a planter that are about 25 y/o and I don't do anything to them except look at them every now and then. I don't wanna steer you wrong but I don't think they take much care. I do rememeber bringing them in the house one winter and all died but one and that is when I decided to leave them outside year round. Good luck.

Usually with Hens & Chicks you can just stick a leaf in the ground and it will grow a new plant.

one thing about the care of your hens and chicks plant is not to over water them. they prefer to be dry and neglected. place them in full sun.

I too have purchased some chicks and hens. My grandmother had them and I loved them but know a thing about being a green thumbed gardener. I bought a pretty pot with small cups (not sure how else to describe this) coming from the sides near the top. I was hoping to plant some of the chicks and hens in the top and in this small side pockets. Is there any trick to using this type of container? Since my thumb is light green at best, I don't want to kill these darling little plants. Thanks for any help!

I have H & C growing in a pot in my backyard. Been there in full sun and sandy soil for over 2 years. I have done exactly nothing to them. No fertilizer. no water other than rain, just full sun.

I bought some hen & chicks and am planning to put them around 2 large tall trees that get tons of sun with some blue fescue grass that's been growing there totally on it own...definitely no help from me. I thought the 2 would complement each other. The fescue grass has propagated itself and I was wondering how to make more "chicks"...thanks for the thread.

I had one at the beginning of summer and now I have about 10. No care no nothing. they will grow more chicks and drop them, then the chicks will root in and make more chicks and it will cover a planter before you know it. Stick it in the ground or pot and wait.

Help! My hens and chicks which are potted have suddenly been attacked by some sore of bug or parasite which is eating holes in them. Any ideas? Thanks!
