Interesting!!!!!! 2-3 years ago, a nursery in France or Italy, not sure which, was selling a Salvia named as Salvia lamiifolia, from Netherlands Antilles. It was not S. lamiifolia (photo of this on my site.....though not certain it is the real lamiifolia). Anyway, I obtained a plant, which looks identical to the link you provided from ebay. I think that it is a form of S. chiapensis, winter-flowering, and more shrubby than the normal one. Christian Froissart agreed, and explained that chiapensis is a VERY variable species. But the flowers are the same. (If indeed it IS chiapensis, interesting to know how it confused with something from the Antilles!)

I think it came from the Italian nursery Le Essenze di Lea (or something like that) just outside Lucca. The lady there, Elisa, does trade seeds.

That is funny that Robin would say that. UCR also has two forms of S. chiapensis. We were just talking about it via email. One that is much denser and close flowering and one that is more separated. I heard it from the person who runs the UCR BG, Steve Morgan, he told me that one form came from chiapas and one form was found elsewhere. This was last year when he told me that. But, very variable for sure.
