Thanks for your wishes. The snow has been the heaviest and deepest for 18 years, 10 inches in my garden. But the temperature has not dropped too low, about 25 degrees at night, and all is well inside the heated greenhouses. In the garden the snow acts as an insulator, but I worry about a sudden thaw, as there will be some water-logged areas. The Pinks had some frost damage a month ago inside their greenhouse.

I had some in my greenhouse also at about the same time. I needed a third burner for the back, so I will be a bit set back. I pray for sun and just a bit more warmth. The worst will be over soon.

Glad to hear you are ok Robin. Hope things recover quickly
with no damage to your Salvias or greenhouses.

Many thanks for your wishes! Sure that all will be fine, but more snow is forecast. All still ok in the greenhouses, heating bill could be a nightmare. Lots of greggiis/microphyllas seem dead , but I took cuttings of most, as a precaution.

Spare a thought for Annette in North Australia...30 inches of rain in a week!!!!!

I did not know about 30 inches of rain in Australia.Sue Templeton said it was 114 degrees in her part of Australia.
We need one of those here we had 16+ inches of rain when
avaerage is 30 inches. Our drought continues.There is some
speculation we will have to stop watering.This is the third driest year(2008).So far 2009 has been a dismal rain fall
year too.

I have been seeding natives here in Texas and putting them out in the woods, but even they are not taking. The cactus on the knob of land is also pretty dehydrated. I guess it hadn't got its roots in before the water got cut off. We did get 1/2" last night. I guess it is back to our drought now. I am not looking forward to our summer. I lost some trees that I was trying to start this last summer. They were 5 years old. I have some salvias that I am seeding this year, but I am also thinking of forgoing it because of the water situation. I am on a cistern and so far, so good. We have a large roof and our refresh rate is pretty good.But this last summer , I found myself watering some of the natives close to the house. My husband was not happy.
