That looks right for the Strybing form of Salvia disjuncta. Were you in California, and where did you find the plant?

It's in the East Bay hills (El Cerrito to be exact)and is meandering its way through a clump of bamboo next to the sidewalk. It may have been planted on the other side of the bamboo but appears to have been left to fend for itself.
I used Froissant's book in identifying the corolla, then the calyx and finally the leaf. Probably should have continued past the d's but I was too excited with the prospects of it being disjuncta. "Google translate" then becomes the key to learning more.
The photos in Froissart's book are great and I really appreciate how shots of the leaves are clear and telling.

Part of my goal with dong scans of Salvias on my flat bed scanner is to capture both flowers and leaves of various species and forms to aid in identification. I always include a ruler for scale.

Those are great. Do you have additional scans available for viewing? It would be great to create an easily searchable public database for Salvia. Is this possibly in the works? Not having a scanner, I tried a hand-held version for the disjuncta.
