Hi Kim, S. gracilis is one of my favorite Sans. It seems to have a mind of it's own and talk about your wild hair days. If you check the gallery you can see my gracilis. Its just a few years older than yours and since I posted the picture, it has 4 new sprouts - all a pretty light green and mottled.

Sansevieria gracilis has longer & thinner leaves & is quite smooth to the touch. Here is Browns description for you to refer to.

"Leaves 8-12 to a growth, directed in all ways, closely placed, ascending or spreading. straight or curved or slightly sinuous, firmly FLEXIBLE, not rigid, nearly or quite SMOOTH. The outer of each tuft much shorter than the inner., concave down the face, very rounded on the back. Inner or fully developed leaves three quarters to two & half feet long, sheathing & concave channelled for 2-5 inches at the base. Cylindric above, one quarter of an inch thick at the top of the sheath thence gradually tapering to a very acute spinelike brown point"

It does go on, but this is the main gist of it for ID purposes. Unless you have one flowering & are able to take measurements, now that would really clinch it!

Thanks, birdsnest. Other than the regular trifasciata, this is my first sans purchase. I'm not real good at IDing them, but this was what it was sold to me as. I guess I'll have to wait and see it flower.
