That is a reasonable date for shipment. Box stores often don't get Black & Blue in until mid June, which is a little late in this zone. I just went out last night and manured my B&B patches. They have been in place for a decade or more and they appear to be fairly heavy feeders to me. We'll see how they like 3 inches of horse manure. I've gone back to basics on Salvia guarantica this year and have Brazil growing on the backporch. I'm told it is more vigorous and flowers earlier and heavier than B&B - we'll see. The only other cultivar of guarantica currently in the garden is Argentina Skies which is very tall but at least for me a light bloomer. Another new guarantica out there on the porch is Van Remsen which I understand forms no corms. The lack of corms is of some concern to me given my zone 7 climate, but maybe I'm worrying for nothing. Several fellow gardeners have been singing about its virtues since last summer.

Do you know what the Brazil will be like , is it similar to b&b. Also when I was in Lowes the other night I saw this plant that I was severely attracted to called Oriental Violet and It had one flower in bloom, didnt get it but wanted to about $10. It flower was pinkish and quite large and to me imitated b&b a little . What do you know of this. Is it a hummer attracter

Our Lowe's here has carried Black and Blue also. Good place to check. They may also have salvia coccinea 'Lady in Red' which the hummingbirds like. I found some last year at Lowe's and Wal-Mart but they didn't look alike. One place must've mislabeled but I don't know which one.

Ive not had any luck growing b&b from seed , wouldnt be what I want anyway. But Ive grown quite a few others from seed which are pretty easy, lady in red , scarlet sage just to name a couple.
