Plants for Shady Porch

Hi all, new here and need advice. Every year we've had pots of Impatiens hanging on the wall of our porch.They never look great and are really messy with the flowers falling and fusing to the porch floor. Is there another plant that will thrive on a shady porch and cascade? I love pink tones. We've tried begonias and they did not work.Suggestions?

Hello! here are some ideas for your porch: caladiums (comes in all types of leaf colors including pinks), bleeding heart, fuchsia, vinca (blue blooms but will stay green all year and blue looks great with pinks), wandering jew, coleus (all types of leaf colors including pinks), wishbone flower, rex begonia, ferns, creeping genny... the list could keep going. I hope this helps.

In my porch window box I've had a lot of success with coleus and ivy mixed in with some moss. The colorful leaves of the coleus look great and you don't have to bother with the mess and burden of spent flowers. Another shade planting I have (in-ground) contains ferns and purple heart/wandering jew. The purple heart can be fairly messy, but the color is stunning! I hope you find a combo you enjoy.
