I have Edgeworthia in my Charleston garden and have planted it in many of my clients gardens. It does best with pt. sun to pt. shade exposure and in well amended soil. Soil must be well drained as Edgeworthia can be prone to root rot type dieback similar to Winter Daphne. Spider Mites are the only insect pest I've seen on them. The ones planted in my garden have been in the ground for 4 yrs.

Edgeworthia also grows happily here in the SC midlands. I have one growing in full shade, and another in an area that gets about an hour of direct midday sun.
