If I had know my PHM was going to be so gorgeous I would have given it a better spot---
My PHM survived being shoved quickly in a shady hole and forgotten (during renovations)and now it is huge---what a great rose.

Moodyblue, Stunning!!! Just stunning, that PHM climbing
into the tree's. It looks like a victorian landscape painting.
It's reminding me of that part, in the movie "Mary Poppin's",
where they jump into Burt's landscape pastel in the park.
How long is the bloom-time for this once bloomer?
How old is yours? I've seen it growing, in England,
at a home, in Hampstead Heath, a suburb in the northern
reaches of London, and it took my breath away, when in full bloom.

Wow. I now have to rethink whether I want Albertine or Pauls HM and Kiftsgate to climb some trees. I think I know. I have always wanted both of these but somewhat afraid to have them near my house. I can put them in the trees. They will be lovely. How long did it take yours to establish and start climbing.

Wow! Stunning! I have the same kind of trees on our property and have planted some climbers to climb into them. I just will have to get PHM. I wasn't exactly sure if it was too tender for here. Obviously it is not. I planted a Cecil Brunner at the base of a fir tree this summer. Dying for that roses in trees look. You don't see them that often in Evergreens too. Just beautiful gardens moodyblue! Thanks so much for sharing!

Where do you buy Kiftsgate? Can't find a source in the US. I have an enormous cedar and an enormous redwood crying out for this rose!

nwkrys, It is also known as Filipes Kiftsgate. I think I originally purchased mine from The Old Rose Nursery on Hornby Island, off Vancouver Island. I believe they do mail order, so you can give that a try, otherwise, any old rose growers in the States should carry it, hopefully. Good luck! (Link below). They do have it listed.

Wow! and double WOW! You took my breath away with the first photo. You also made up my mind. I'm going to plant my R. Fortuniana at the base of an oak tree to grow through all the oaks along the back of my yard. In the spring maybe it will look like yours! This is better than a fence!

My goodness, I want these monsters!!! They look soooo dramatic!!! That's what I was looking for. I have planted so many repeat climbers and ramblers to climb on trees, so far they can't climb since I am in a colder zone. I have to check out these monster once bloomers. Paul's Himalayan Musk should be ok in zone 6a, not sure if Kifsgate could make it here. I can't find Kifsgate on HMF, is there another name for it? Where can I find one? Thanks for these beautiful photos!!

I did find 'Kiftsgate' in HMF. The pictures of this rose are stunning. Just check you're spelling. It's there. :-)

Just bought another PHM. They can climb on two trees, since I can't find Kiftsgate, thinking about Rambling Rector, do they bloom at the same time? Hope RR blooms later after PHM is done blooming.
