We have seen a lot of unusual "Plant behavior' darcyi
which does not bloom until later. I had a bumper crop
of Poppy seed this year. My first year of Salvia hiersolymitana blooming.Some of my hemerocallis that have not
bloomed are doing so. Acanthus mollis no bloom this year.
Salvia bleparophylla, leucantha several hybrids all very early.
Our spring has been over for several weeks now as the heat
settles in with the lack of rain as well the tone for summer is beginning.

I went to the J C Raulston Arboretum a week ago Saturday for our local NARGS chapter meeting, and all the S. greggii S. microphylla, and hybrids were performing outrageously. The S. chamaedryoides was stunning.

Even in my own greenhouse and outdoor plants, there was better than normal bloom.

I hope this autumn does as well.

Another one wildly early is Van Remsen - setting buds today and will bloom in a couple of weeks. Normal first bloom for me is around August 1. A patch of "Brazil" is already in heavy bloom and the patch also contains blooming Argentina Skies which just started. I really shouldn't be surprised I guess since these plant broke ground a month or more early this spring.

Did you set out Salvia oxyphora? You are in an ideal situation to compare oxyphora to guaranitica with respect to hardiness and bloom time. If they are similar, oxyphora would add another color for plants with similar traits and horticultural uses.
