There are very few cultivars of apple that will do well in the deep South, particularly coastal Georgia. if you are in Savanah or further inland, 24 frosts is about average in a year, most of them mild in the 28-32 degree ange,with a few in the low to mid 20's.

These apple trees are 'suppose' to do well here, as they are the variety grown in Israel--the Ein Shermer and the Anne. But I am confused when the dormant season is. Most of the leaf growth happened in the summer. I planted them last summer and the one had a few blossoms last November and a ripe apple in June. That's why I don't know when the best time to prune would be. They look to be about five years old.
