could the pink lillies be stargazers? Some of mine are blooming now - I got them from Wal-mart. You could stop and ask the people what the flowers are - they might even share a start with you! I scored tons of snowflakes and daffy's that way...

They're almost certainly Crinum species and hybrids, which are members of the amaryllis tribe rather than true lilies. They are incredibly hardy and adaptable plants which seem to last forever. Bulbs can be tough to locate, although they're gaining in popularity; Ebay has been a good source for me. "Garden Bulbs for the South" by Scott Ogden has an excellent chapter on Crinums, and there are some good websites containing info on them.

Crinum... I thought they looked a bit like amaryllises. Found a photo and that would be it. One of the locations I have seen them has someone living on the premises... I'll see if she'll let me have a bulb. Thank you.

Uh oh... The plot thickens... I asked the lady living near a huge growth of these and she said I can have two "tubers". Maybe it is not crinum? Any ideas what looks like a lily but grows from a tuber? I can tell I am going to have to grow these and post pictures.

We call 'em 'naked ladies'. I always thought they were in the genus Lycoris, but evidently there are others that get that same great common appellation.
