s. koyame, soil preference?

I just picked up a salvia koyame, and I'm not finding too much about it on the web, other than it likes part-shade. What I'm not seeing is what kind of soil it likes. But I have noticed some of you grow it. For those of you who do, are you growing it in moist woodland conditions? Rich soil? Lean soil? I have sandy loam, not a speck of clay. Very well drained, verging on dry. In my sunny spots, salvia argentea loves me. Will koyame be happy in that kind of shade? Thanks.
