I tried these once, very slow germination, more than 6 weeks, this is not unusual with some South African Salvias. Growth was poor, small plants were over-wintered in the greenhouse, and took off and flowered the following year. Not a good Salvia in the UK unless we have a hot summer......last was 6 years ago! Have heard of plants 6-10 ft tall in South Africa and Australia, flowering all year.....dream on!

Both do quite well for me and are favorites, but the Kirstenbosch is a much better form and I haven't tried them from seed. Was somehow hoping they'd carry through with the Kirstenbosch form so I could send seeds to others....mine do reach about 6 ft tall, 10 would be great! I tend to like large, substantial shrubs..
