It is usual for Hot Lips to revert to all red with hot weather. I should be back to normal when cool weather returns.

This is what I was told before I bought mine.

It can also go all white or nearly so.

Mine start out red and white, now they are going white. Soon they will be red then back to red and white.

Thanks for the info. I tried to grab one of the few that didn't revert at the greenhouse. But since I have planted it, it has completely changed. I can understand if it is related to temperature. It has been over 90 degrees for the last week now. I guess 'Hot lips' and I are both looking forward to cooler temperatures! :)

Mine are mostly white at 90 degreees and dappled shade. Does anyone know if seeds will come true?

I have three plants, one had a few white with light pink lips, the second had a few red flowers and refuses to bloom, the third a mature plant I got from a LA nursery with flowers of red and white. Sometimes a branch would have all red flowers, another brach would be white flowers. I watched a hummingbird go to every single flower several days in a row yet not one single seed formed. I guess the bumble bees got to it first.
