Can't really picture them from your description. Do you mean the seeds are larger than the bean pod itself?

But since they are hybrids anyway they likely aren't worth saving and going to the work of trying - esp. Fortex as it isn't stable - unless you have time to kill. ;)

I'm confused too. I'm not sure why they would be twice as long as the black skin. I've seen small cracks, but never large gaps. Are they still plump and hard?
They are not hybrids though. You can save seed every year. Beans have self pollinating flowers. I don't recommend planting them right next to each other since a higher chance of crossing by insect pollination also will happen. So either, grow them across the garden from each other, stagger the planting time to get a different bloom time, or grow just one variety each year.
