Cafe

Hello! ~ Here's my latest purchase from Raft Island Roses. I have a new bed that I'm doing in kind of brownish-dark colors. I've gotten Chianti, Brown Velvet, Buff Beauty, Tradescant, Aloha and Alchymist. Any other suggestions? I'm thinking of Hot Cocoa? When I was at Heirloom Roses last weekend I saw Flaming Peace in their gardens which was very interesting. I may put that in there too. The Austin Bed and their own Heirloom Roses Bed were doing beautifully! Some of the Heirloom roses are just gorgeous!

(I was very proud of myself I only got two roses there last weekend. Braveheart and Alchymist. I'm waiting for their big August sale.)

Cafe is very pretty! It changes color and is very double. I like it a lot. Nice fragrance too.

ok - you went and did it! Now I want that rose!!! lol ... it's gorgeous!

Have you considered The Prince? He's a gorgeous deep red colour that I can never capture, similar to Chianti I think.

Wow is that gorgeous or what--not only the color but the doubleness of it. A must have. I'm Enabled.

Hot Cocoa is nice, but mine gets really really tall. Smoky is in the same color range, has more petals. Julia's Rose? Climbing Butterscotch on a Tuteur for height?

I was going to suggest the same roses as hoovb too - I grow all 3 and they are in the colour range you wanted - so is Grey Dawn and you might want to check out the mini Cafe Ole.

I wasn't sure I was going to like it when I saw the first picture, but then I was completely wowed by the fully-opened blooms. Where did you get it?

hoovb ~ I saw Smoky, that is a nice one! I'm going to put Aloha on a pillar, and Alchymist on a very large arbor.

Aprille ~ You've enabled me a few times now, here's one back at ya, hee hee! :o) The Prince is for sure on my short list. I will check out Cafe Ole when I go back to Heirloom in August. I need a few minis. Thanks!

I found all these cool coffee colored roses when I discovered Brown Velvet on Paul Barden's web-site, Old Garden Roses & Beyond. I HAD to have it. It took awhile, but I finally found Brown Velvet at Sequoia,(Thanks to a Garden-Web enabler!!) While at Sequoia I found all these other interesting named roses, so I looked them up at HMF. That is how I found Cafe and Smoky. I really like Smoky too. Cafe was sold out at Sequoia.

Laurie ~ I got Cafe at Raft Island Roses. An INCREDIBLE rose nursery with so many roses. It is only about 2 miles from my house which is not good! They have everything, including many antiques.

michellesg ~ I saw Aprille's Irish Creme, Gorgeous! Where did you find that Aprille?

    How pretty! Wow!!

Maybe Lavendar Pinoccio, the parent of Cafe? Grey Pearl, the parent of Lav Pin?

How 'bout Distant Drums and the mini, Teddy Bear?

    Cheers,

pacnwgrdngirl - I got Irish Creme at Regan's Nursery - they are close by to me so it's really tempting when I got there - they do ship bare-roots as well in the Spring, so you should check them out :o) ...
