Propagating Shogoin Globe Radish

I have some old seeds for "Shogoin Globe" oriental radish that I would like to grow and propagate for the following year (assuming they germinate). I've not seen these on local seed racks since the year I bought them (2003). I've never grown these before and know little about them. For example, are they like regular radishes that produce a seed top? Are they annuals or biennials? The packet says to direct sow in summer for fall havest and winter storage.
