Looks like S. suffruticosa, but no guarantees. :-)

bid for cylindrica v.patula.

Can't be cylindrica because cylindrica does not have deep grooves in the leaves; and, c. v. patula is distichous (leaves are 2-ranked).

It does kinda look like S. suffruticosa from some of the pics I looked up on google. I did repot it today and it is a bunch of cuttings like I thought it was. It was a pain to repot, I kept poking myself on my arms with the tips, like agaves do... it's a dangerous weapon lol.

Thank you for the answers, I'll write down that name and keep an eye on it, I never realized how many there are that look alike. I really want a cylindrica, snd I knew that this plant was more then likely not one, but I still love it...it's so different from the sans I see for sale everywhere else. And it seems like cylindrica would be common, but not here...

The suffruticosas have painfully sharp tips, as you pointed out. They reproduce with above ground rhizomes that produce new plantlets at the growing tips - like S. ballyi if you have seen that plant, The suffruticosa gets large and very 'rangy' with the new plantlets drooping down as seen in the attached picture.

The spider plant to end all spider plants. Looks deadly.

Note; My plants have been pest free for many months. But check and keep isolalated to be sure.

Identifying plants from photos is risky business. But here's a lousy photo of a S suffruiticosa I am confident is correct because the plant came from the Huntington collection. Notice it is rather large and muscular. A few years after this I had reduced it to a single stem - it is caulescent.
