Seed saving publications

I was discussing seed storage on another forum, and it occurred to me that while I have frequently quoted Seed to Seed for seed growing practices, I have never mentioned one of my best seed saving references. It is the USDA Agricultural Handbook 506, Principles and Practices of Seed Storage (Oren L. Justice and Louis N. Bass), Library of Congress Cat. No. 78-600015.

It is a heavy read for a "handbook", at 289 pages... but it is the most comprehensive publication I have read on the subject. The effects of seed maturity, moisture content, storage temperature, and even storage atmosphere are discussed for quite a few crops, including some vegetables. Many of the seed storage questions in this forum are answered there.

It may be out of print, but J. L. Hudson carries it as a "xerographic reprint". I highly recommend it to any serious seed saver.
