Hi Andrea,
I'm assuming most varieties sold are hybrids, and if so, yours will not come true. Gerber daisy seed doesn't stay viable for very long and is hard to germinate too.

Where are the seeds? What am I looking for?

The seeds are in the center of the daisy. Wait till the flower head is dry, cut it carefully (the seeds tend to fly all over when they are ready). Now, you'll see hundreds of "sticks", about 1/4 inch or so, maybe a little longer with tufts of fluff growing from one end. Most are non viable (they are skinny and brittle), look for the few that are fat in the center, you'll see the difference easy enough.

I planted them in December, indoors, in jiffy pellets. No special care, just a southern facing window, sticking them half way down in the pellet, fluff side sticking out. Lost a ton of sprouts in the following months, but germination was excellent. Took them a good six months to get to bloom, but it was well worth the wait.

I have already collected new seed. I can't tell whether or not they are true to the parent plants, as I got the seed from my mother's gerberas overseas. I'm sure they are hybrids, but they are pretty enough as they are.
